Thank you all for your wonderful comments! Dear Ms. Rudnick, It's been almost one year now since the worst of our dog's symptoms. Last March I remember showing him to our veterinary friends and they only gave us the common prognosis of his need for even further antibiotics and steroids. He was only a year old and had spent his first year terribly sick and on drugs and was only getting worse! We found your website on January 30, 2007, and scheduled a consultation. We had begun him on a version of the BARF diet (best I could come up with living in Chile) the week before. After providing you a list of everything we were doing and considering, you refined our list and counseled us on a program to follow. That program restored our dog to us! Since about April (2 months on the program) he had grown his hair back, his skin cleared up, no more infections, never has had fleas or ticks since, has a healthy appetite, runs with us every morning and weighs a good 90 lbs! I waited till now to write you the testimony to confirm that his new found health was a sure thing. It is. We still have him on Nupro, which we mix in with his vege mush. The Yeast & Fungal D'tox seemed to be "the kicker" of all your products to clear him up. I remember emptying out my cranberry capsules (and mixing them in my shakes every day) and using the empty capsules to put the D'tox drops in for him to take. I found that putting the capsules down his throat throughout the day was a more sure thing than trying to get him to eat it in food, or drink it in liquids. Your products worked! Thank you! It's a joy to have our dog back and to know that we could deal with his health issues the natural way. We will certainly continue to keep our "medicine cabinet" stocked with your products. Please feel free to use any or all of our emails for testimony purposes. We recommend your counsel and products to anyone who wants to treat their pet naturally. --Kristine & Joseph Bradford, and Bale Chile, South America Hello Darleen... I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart and soul for your kindness in answering my letter and your vast knowledge that you shared with me. I am starting Taz on this diet and praying each and every moment that I can keep him with me a little bit longer. I deeply appreciate your help and may God Bless and watch over you and the Angels lift you up always. --T. LaForge Hi Darleen, Just an update on how my dogs are doing on the Nupro supplement. I cut out all the yeasts, grains and sugary/starchy fruit and veggie from my male's diet and started adding Nupro instead of my usual supplement. As you know my male was itching his nose on the carpet extensively after a meal and scratching a lot at his ears, mostly in the evening. It has been about two weeks since I cut all the grains out the diet and he is itching much less. I watch him after he eats and there is no problem. However, sometimes about 10 minutes after he eats he still itches his nose on the carpet but only for about 5 seconds. The hair loss on his ears has not improved, however, it certainly has not worsened and I suppose it is a bit early to see any results at this point. I remembered something today that may be a point of interest, about 4 months ago (two months after I started with the BARF diet) I noticed a lot of flaking skin on his ears and the hair loss occurred about two and a half months later. I am slightly suspicious that he may be allergic to one of the meats I give him, there has certainly been an improvement since I started giving him Nupro and cut out the grains. Shall I stick with it for a few months longer and see how it goes? I am concerned as he is still itching very slightly. Perhaps it takes a while for the body to get rid of the toxins causing the itching? As for the bitch, the pups are fully weaned now and her stools are hard and back to normal, I tried feeding one veggie at a time as you suggested and it worked, many thanks for that! She has lost quite a lot of hair around her head but my previous bitches have been near to bald after having their pups as they were fed on commercial kibbles! I think the BARF diet has kept her in the best of health. She has got a lot of flaky skin at the moment though. I guess again time is what is needed to allow her to get back into condition. I definitely think that Nupro is a fantastic supplement for the BARF diet and I have really spread the word! I'm sure you will be getting a few more orders from my friends in the near future. I look forwards to hearing from you and many thanks once again for all the advice, I'll keep you posted on any changes! --K.
Graff Dear Darleen: Just a note to say "Thanks" for all that you have done for Gracie. When you started helping address her health problems (epilepsy, pancreatitis symptoms, bladder stones, and gravely declining health), our family had resigned ourselves to the painful resolve of being prepared to let her go. But we found you and now that she is on the supplements and homemade diet you suggested, she is 100% better! I want you to know that you have saved her life. Thank you for your patience and time given in walking me through her new regimen and dosage levels, sharing your knowledge and advise, and especially for the hope you have given to our family. It looks like we are on the road to recovery! THANK
YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU. Kaye Patton Darleen - I wanted to send you a huge thanks for helping with Ajax' seizures. He's been seizure free since (8/2/01) he's gone on a home cooked diet and started taking Mega vitamins and EpiPlus. He also has been getting snacks so that he never goes more than 5-6 hours w/o eating something (yes, I do set my alarm to get up in the night if necessary). Overall, he is probably eating more total food, but has not gained weight. I could not be happier over the results at this time. Dave
Cohen - AlleyCat Software Hi all... I wanted to thank Darleen and Cat for the recommendation of EpiPlus and also for making it available. My 3 yr old Labrador, Popper has had several seizures, prior to starting on EpiPlus. She is also fearful and shy. Since starting her on it (EpiPlus) I think about 2 months ago, she has not only NOT had any seizures..her fearfulness and shyness are decreasing. I am a dog trainer and also a veterinary technician. Popper comes to work with me at the clinic and then goes to my training center at night, directly from work. (she helps me socialize my puppy classes). She has always been very fearful and "barky" at people at the clinic, though she is excellent at her job as puppy socializer). When she was younger, (at the clinic) she was frightened by two uniformed people and it has generalized to everyone. She stays under my desk at work and greets certain people, over the top of my desk. She chooses. In the last month, she has been much more brave and is going around the desk to visit, exhibiting less and less signs of fear. Today, she actually walked down the hall, knowing there were clients in rooms and actually greeted and "schmoozed" with someone in a room who was waiting for her Labrador to come back from X-rays. So, I couldn't be more pleased with her progress and again, am so very thankful for such a wonderful product, as I believe it has been a definite contribution to the change in behavior. I am also very thankful, of course, for no more seizures! Karla
McCoy Darleen - Thanks for the contact - I hate to jinx him, but we've gotten thru about 31 days now with Ajax. Perhaps the Mega Pet and EpiPlus are helping. I also have been in the habit lately of setting my alarm for 5 or so hours after I go to bed, so I can get him some kind of snack at least every 5 hours or so. --D.
Cohen, Chapel Hill, NC Darleen, Thanks for asking. Willie is like a puppy. His eyes are bright and his coat is so much softer. He hasn't had any seizures! Your products have improved his life tremendously. The glorious thing about it is that Willie is drug free! --Eileen
F., Franklin, TN Hi Darleen- Just a teeny bit of background: our dog started last spring with what we thought was an eye infection, but turned out to be allergies. His only symptom is itchy eyes. Cat Donnelly is on one of my mailing lists and she suggested the yeast connection and sent me a copy of your article. The Aller'g Free has made a great deal of difference, his eyes are much less puffy and inflamed and the hair and pigment are starting to come back. I think he may be going through some d'tox as the yeast is dying; he has a little discharge and irritation at the inner corners of his eyes that wasn't there before. But there is a pretty significant improvement in his comfort level. We have been keeping an Elizabethan collar on him to keep him from rubbing his eyes and lately have been able to take it off without him gouging his eyes out. He is on a BARF diet and I have cut out any root veggies and fruit. He's only been on BARF since March. I'm hoping with the Yeast and Fungal d'tox and raw diet we'll be able to dispense completely with the e-collar by the end of this year. Thanks! --Jess
R., Dunnellon, FL Hi, I have
a Yorkie, and she is about 10 years old. She was having seizures twice a
week, and I thought we were going to lose her. I was lucky enough to have a co-worker have the same problem with his dog (seizures). He told me about Darleen, so I sent her an email to ask her advise. Part of the problem with my dog was she was not getting the right nutrition and vitamins. I was just going to the store and buying her dog food and not looking to see what was in it. After seeing all the dyes and additives that were in the dog food, I asked Darleen what she would suggest. We ended up getting a product she sells...that has no additives or dyes in it (at a comparable cost). I also bought a seizure powder mix and a vitamin mix...that was given to her once a day. To make
a long story short, the combination of good food and the Currently the dog has not had a seizure in over 4 months!!! I would recommend her advise...She cares a lot...and truly loves animals!!!. --Bradley
B., Cincinnati, OH Darleen, Here's a copy of a message I posted to the Chihuahua list that I'm on. I hope you don't mind. Holistic remedies are new to many folks and in my area there are no Holistic vets at all. As most of you know I have an epileptic chi who also suffers with a severe collapsing trachea. Since I have put her on a vitamin supplement from Purely Pets she has been seizure free and with a supplement of glucosamine her coughing attacks have been almost nonexistent. Jose has allergies that gave him much discomfort this past year and since he's been on this vitamin supplement his skin and coat have really improved and he hardly ever scratches anymore and his ears have not broken out in a rash for months. This might not work for everyone, but you may find some things very interesting especially if your chi suffers from allergies, seizures, or skin/coat problems. In the past, I have received advice and lots of good information from the pet nutritionists on these groups and have found them to be very knowledgeable. Any of you who have chi's suffering from seizures might want to give the Seizures list a try. --Dot
M., Pennsylvania Dear Darleen, Every day I thank God that I found you when I did, but today is a special day because it is Thanksgiving and I wanted to tell you how much I appreciate all the help you have given me & Ginger. She says thank you and so do I. I hope you have a good Thanksgiving. Talk to you soon. Ginger is doing wonderful and I just can't believe it! --Donna
C., Library, PA Bogie had been bothered by idiopathic seizures for almost 3 years. His seizures occurred anywhere from every 2-3 months to as frequently as 2 in one week. I took him to several specialists as well as my own vet who, along with the specialists, admitted there was very little known about seizures that were not epileptic in nature. After months of internet research, I spoke with a Purely Pets representative and began to give Bogie EpiPlus and Nupro which was simply added to his meal mixed with warm water. I also started giving him a piece of fruit or a vegetable in the morning and just before bedtime. Not only does he love the fruits and vegetables, but he actually drools for them! Since starting the EpiPlus and Nupro regimen, he has gone 9 months without a seizure and is an extremely happy dog. Admittedly, it was me who wasn't happy with the seizures, so I should restate that now I am a happy dog owner once again!! I undoubtedly owe a huge thank you to Purely Pets. You have my gratitude for life and I have and will continue to recommend you to friends and colleagues. --Gale
M., Springfield, VA Hi Darleen, Thank
you for your e-Mail of June 29th regarding how our Maltese "Kama"
was doing on your products: EpiPlus
and Nupro.

the Aloha, My eldest dog first became incontinent at night about 2 years ago. I took her to the vet and found out that she had an infection. After that was cleared up, her incontinence improved some but not totally, she'd do good for a month then have a few bad days. Gradually the bad days became everyday! Again to the vet, no problems could be found and I did not want to use drugs either so I looked into herbs. I ordered "kidni kare" from http://www.purelypets.com It contains several herbs that are listed in The Tilford's herb book as being good for incontinence. It has worked very well. It needs to be given 3 times a day to start with. I was told when I first ordered that after a few weeks I could drop to twice a day, or a few times a week, whatever worked. I have tried to lower the dose, but it always ends up making my girl incontinent again. So, as long as I give it 3 times a day it works great. I'd recommend it. You may be able to gradually lower the dose with your dog. My girl is older and I guess she needs the extra support for those muscles! I saw improvement within a week and no incontinence at all after 3 weeks. --Kristin
F., Wytheville, VA Hi Darleen- Thanks and we did get the Aller'g Free and the Yeast and Fungal d'tox. F., Franklin, TN Darleen, I do have one more question that occurred to me this AM re: the Yucca: Does this in any way suppress the immune system like Prednisone? Daisy hasn't been coming upstairs with us at night, it just got to be too much for her. Last night she came up and again this AM she came up while I showered. I looked at her this AM and her face has lost the swollen, droopy look. I am SO pleased with the Yucca I could almost giggle. :) Thanks again, --Donna
G., Pataskala, OH We have been using these supplements since mid-May, and NO SEIZURES! Thank you for all of your help. --Wendy
and Bill R. and CJ., Rock Island, IL Darleen, Yes, Buster is still seizure-free. As each day passes, I am more and more convinced that he is not epileptic. We haven't completely weaned him off of the pheno yet, but his levels are very low compared to what the vet says he should be at. He's on a good diet, with lots of vegetables and it seems that he's very happy. I can't thank you enough for enlightening me! By the way, I referred the website to a friend's sister, whose dog has recently seizured for the first time, and recommended looking you up. I'm not sure if she did, but I am sure that if she has, she would be completely satisfied with the response. Thanks again - I am so touched by your concern. |
